History of Petits — the history of the most popular and favourite newspapers and magazines in Latvia.
1991 — the SM Reklama newspaper with free of charge private and personal advertisements was founded and successfully launched in the Latvian media market. Later on, the editorial and servicing teams have developed into a registered company, which is known today as a Publishing House (PH) Petits.
1993 — the first issue of the Latvijas Reklama newspaper was published in Latvian language — the independent original edition, which has quickly acquired its readers audience in the various regions of Latvia.
Today's reading audience's favourite newspapers Teleprogramma s djadej Mishej (the former title Teleprogramma) and the weekly newspaper Subbota were initially published as insets to the main newspaper SM-Reklama. These insets became independent editions by the end of 1994.
In November 1994 the newspaper with the ads named Rigas Santims was launched in the highly competitive environment. The newspaper was distributed to Riga residents' mailboxes free of charge. During all these years, the newspaper maintains the unprecedented for Latvia circulation — more than 350 thousand copies weekly!
At the same time, the network of places accepting personal advertisements, subsequently grown into a trading-intermediary servicing network ReklaMarket, was being formed. Also the distribution team of the newspaper SM Reklama, which was mainly distributed by street dealers at the first stage of this product development, was growing into an independent delivery service. Today, this service provides a free-of-charge delivery of the local newspaper Rigas Santims, and is also engaged in the distribution of the advertising production to the Clients of the Company (direct mail services).
In 1995 the marketing departments of three newspapers SM-Reklama, Rigas Santims and Subbota were merged. It was the beginning of a successful formation and work of the solid advertising department which is working today with projects as the all range services advertising agency.
In 1997 the Chas newspaper was launched. In half a year after the first issue it became one of the leading daily Russian publications of Latvia.
In 1998 the first issue of Ljublju! magazine, the first weekly Russian magazine in Latvia was published in cooperation with SIA Izdevnieciba EVA. It was the first weekly Russian magazine in Latvia.
In 2000 the publishing house expanded its range of TV Guides and launched a new TV Guide published in Latvian language.
In 2000 the first issue of thick glossy magazine Architecture and Design of Baltics was published.
In 2001 the advertisement magazine with photographs AutoFoto was launched. In the same year the publisher started preparing regional issues of the popular Russian newspapers Komsomolskaja Pravda v Baltiji and Express Gazeta v Baltiji.
In 2002 the first issue of the advertisement magazine with photographs DOMFoto was published. |
